DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Chapter of the Mutual UFO Network \, MUFON will be holding its Fall chapter meeting at the Alamogordo Otero Artspace building located at 1118 Indiana Ave at 11:00 am Saturday October 26th. The presentation is “APRO the Alamogordo Years:  1954 -60” . This legendary organization Aerial Phenomena Research Organization\, APRO made Alamogordo its home in 1954 to 1960. Jim and Coral Lorenzen worked at Holloman and published the APRO Bulletin from their home in Alamogordo growing APRO into the most substantial and respected UFO research organization of all times. It began as a call to action based on the statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime\, equaling more than one billion women and girls based on the current global population. We want to be free of all forms of violence! \nOne Billion Rising creative resistance event will include a dance sequence as part of the million bodies dancing world video. Dance is dangerous\, joyous\, holy\, disruptive\, and contagious and it breaks the rules. It can happen anywhere\, at any time\, with anyone and everyone\, and it’s free. Dance joins us and pushes us to go further and that is why it’s at the center of ONE BILLION RISING” \nLocal agencies that serve families affected by violence will have resource information tables. DESCRIPTION:The DUKEScomics Mentor Program proudly announces the first-ever Sun City Children & Teens Comic Arts Festival\, taking place on Saturday\, May 3rd\, 2025\, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Old Sheepdog Brewery (3900 Rosa Ave\, El Paso\, TX). \nThis free\, family-friendly event is open to the public and will spotlight the next generation of comic book creators. Children and teen vendors will showcase and sell their original comic arts creations\, offering a unique opportunity to support young artists and storytellers from our community. \nThe featured mentee for this festival is 14-year-old Marcos Molina who will be releasing his first published comic book at the event. His comic book is called\, “The Dino Dudes: A Prehistoric Adventure\,” about a pre-historic friendship that will never go extinct. Meet three dinosaur dudes who go on a journey to discover they are not the fossils we thought they were. \nMarcos Molina is a high school student from El Paso\, Texas. He is the first mentee from the DUKEScomics Mentor Program to publish his first comic book. Three new non-alcoholic seltzer waters made by Old Sheepdog Brewery based on Marcos’s dinosaur characters will be released that day. \nYour attendance will help inspire and motivate these talented young creators. \nEvent Highlights: \n\nFree 15-minute comics workshops at 1:15 p.m. with local artist Marcos Molina\, featuring a fun and accessible drawing exercise for all ages; and at 1:45 p.m. with award-winning comics creators and guest mentors Paul and Carlos Meyer\, authors of award-winning “Under the Cottonwood Tree”; followed by a fireside chat with comics creators starting at 2:15 p.m.\nAphasia Comic Workshop from 3-4 p.m. DUKEScomics will facilitate a Aphasia Character Design workshop in collaboration with El Paso Aphasia Connection.\nAwards will be presented at 4:45 p.m.\nFood available for purchase\, including the exclusive Dino Dudes burger meal.\n\nCome celebrate creativity\, storytelling\, and youth-driven art in the heart of El Paso.
