SUMMARY:Sue Koenig’s Window to the World: Africa and Middle East Gallery
DESCRIPTION:The wait is over! Explore our newest exhibit\, Sue Koenig’s Africa and Middle East Gallery! This is the first long-term installment of Sue Koenig’s Window to the World collection that has been three years in the making. This exhibition is free and open to the public; donations are encouraged. \nAfter thirty years of world travel\, 110 countries\, and over 10\,000 items later\, she started Window to the World\, an international\, interactive museum in Arkansas and Colorado. When she was unable to secure another building\, the collection remained in storage for eighteen years. The collection now finds its new beginnings at the International Museum of Art. \nAsk about becoming a sponsor of this exhibit. Sponsors receive a limited edition Challenge Coin mounted on a beautiful plaque as recognition of your support. \nThe International Museum of Art is dedicated to making art accessible to all\, offering free admission\, exhibitions of local artists\, and a rich collection of regional and international artifacts. Thanks to the generous support of our members and donors\, we continue to foster cultural understanding and promoting the visual arts in El Paso.

SUMMARY:Portrait of a Woman: Artist and Artisan
DESCRIPTION:The International Museum of Art is proud to announce their newest pop-up gallery\, Portrait of a Woman: Artist and Artisan. This gallery highlights the lives of other early women artists of El Paso like Jan Herring\, Grace Knox Smith\, Anna Johnell Crimen and Dorothy Geyer. \nThis pop-up asks us to reflect on creativity in our own lives by examining women’s artistic output from the late 1800s through the mid 1900s and international examples from Sue Koenig’s Window to the World. The gallery also highlights the biographies of El Paso’s early women artists by exploring how major social changes empowered these women to embark on professional art careers.   \nIMoA Director\, Emily Leedom\, states that “there is such a rich legacy of women artists in the greater El Paso region\, and it is an honor to share their stories with our community. I think we can all relate to the artistic journeys that these women embarked on.” \nIn addition to Portrait of a Woman\,The IMoA also invites you to visit A Tale of Two Artists\, hosted in partnership with the Magoffin Home. This gallery celebrates the legacy of two early El Paso women\, Octavia “Tia” Magoffin Glasgow and Leola Warnock Freeman. On view in our Historic Home\, it explores the lives of these two women\, as artists and as life-long friends. \nThe International Museum of Art is dedicated to making art accessible to all\, offering free admission\, exhibitions of local artists\, and a rich collection of regional and international artifacts. Thanks to the generous support of our members and donors\, we continue to foster cultural understanding and promote the visual arts in El Paso. \nVisitor Information: \nAddress: 1211 Montana Ave\, El Paso\, TX 79902 (accessible parking on Rio Grande and Brown St.) \nHours: \nThursday: 1:00–5:00 pm \nFriday–Sunday: 12:00–5:00 pm \nMonday–Wednesday: Closed
