Carrie Underwood

Carrie Marie Underwood was born in 1983 into an idyllic childhood spent playing outdoors on the family farm, listening to country music, singing at her church and performing at local events such as Old Settler’s Day in Checotah. After high school, she majored in broadcast journalism at Northeastern State University in her home state of Oklahoma. It was during her senior year that she auditioned for American Idol, a move that would propel her toward her dream of becoming a professional singer. Her debut album Some Hearts shot to multi-platinum, and her powerful and evocative 2006 ACM award-winning single, “Jesus Take the Wheel,” garnered her international acclaim and sealed her fate as one of country music’s brightest superstars.
