Brown was reared poor by a hardworking single mother. They moved around Georgia and finally settled in Red Bank, Tennessee. Brown rocketed from obscurity to viral sensation by posting videos of himself singing popular (mostly country) songs. He was soon signed to Sony Music Nashville and his 2016 debut album, self-titled, spawned a hit with the song "Heaven."
